Flower Essence Pick of the Month Dandelion (taraxacum officinale) by Lesley Bonisteel With the Christmas holidays ending, we find that Dandelion is the essence that most frequently comes up as a priority for many of our clients. It is helpful when you've overextended yourself like many of us have while preparing for the holidays. As it relieves tension held in the muscles, dandelion essence can be added to your oil or lotion for an even more effective massage. This is a great essence used in your bath. Treat yourself to a nice, long soak in the tub with dandelion essence this New Years! Dandelion essence is used to release stress, fear, and blocked energy held in the muscles. We can hold repressed emotion in the muscle for years so Dandelion is an excellent aid in our healing and self-growth. With its association with the planet Mars, it is used with Mars transits in the natal chart as well as when we are working on issues relating to this planet. Mars is the planet of assertion and drive. What drives us? Do we pursue our desires aggressively? Or do we sit back and lack drive? It tells us what motivates us and what desires drive us most powerfully. Dandelion essence supports aliveness and growth much like the plant itself. This common wild flower grows from 2 to 28 inches, jagged-cut yellow flowers with hollow stalks and milky juice. The dandelion plant has many medicinal uses and is a good overall tonic. See the suggested link below for more information on using the plant itself. Clear Path Essences has Dandelion Essence available in the single bottle, as part of the complete set, or get a free consultation from Lesley at Clear Path Essences and see if Dandelion is a priority essence for you. Relaxation: Regaining Personal Control of our Wellbeing by Donna Logan VanVliet R.N. Stress is not "out there" somewhere. Events, situations, people are the "stressors" to which we react, and our reaction is what ends up in our bodies as stress. Some stress has been held a long time in the cells of our body; possibly even since childhood. Some of it comes in daily, as recent world events come into our awareness. Every cell in our muscles and organs has memory. Our center core, a place of peace, quietness, and loving energy is often difficult to access due to these layers of stressful memories, reactions, and layers of protection. In order to reclaim this birthright, to remember our true state, many of us need some assistance or even retraining. My set of two cassettes, "Empowering the Healer Within" were made for just that purpose. They are used by groups, hospitals, mental health clinics, therapists, as well as individuals at home. My web page has many testimonials, as well as a short sound-byte. Relaxation Training is a reminder of what we once knew and felt, but may have forgotten. I received these lines from a recent purchaser who gave me permission to quote her: "Many thanks for the fantastic tapes. I will surely use them over and over again, and encourage others as well. What an excellent service you offer in a stressful world. Thanks again, Lillian Cranley, R.N." Peterborough, ON. Donna Logan Van Vliet, Reg.N is a holistic wellbeing facilitator living in Carrying Place, Ontario. See more on her audio tapes at: www3.sympatico.ca/donna. Q: How are Essences Used? A: Essences may be used in a variety of ways. They are most commonly taken orally, a few drops directly under the tongue. They can be added to a glass of water or your water bottle and sipped throughout the day. They may be added to your bath, worn, as with the Clear Path necklaces or a few drops on a tissue carried in your pocket. Try a mister and spray the room, your plants or yourself. You can be inventive, use them in a way most appropriate to you. It is a good idea to have some empty bottles and mix your own remedy bottles from the stock bottles you purchase. This is the preferred method when you will be using a particular blend for a period of time. You should use a glass bottle and dropper as plastic breaks down and may affect the subtle qualities of the essences. Fill the bottle about 3/4 full with good, preferably spring, water. Add usually 3 or 4 drops of the required essence(s). The bottle can be topped up with brandy to preserve the remedy. If you'd rather not use brandy keep refrigerated or try apple cider vinegar. (More on using essences with alcohol-sensitive persons in our next issue.) Newsletter subscriber Cindi writes about using essences with her dog: "I'm enjoying my Clear Path Essences. I am new to essences so will probably be writing you often for advice! "I wanted to tell you about using the essences with my dog. The changes were amazing and so immediate. "Shasta came to us from the humane society about three months ago. We don't know very much about her background but she is a very nervous dog who seems to want human contact but is frightened. Using a pendulum I found that she needed Self-Heal. I added 6 drops to her bowl of water and noticed that very evening that she was a bit more relaxed. By the next day she was like a completely different dog, so trusting and comfortable with us. I was amazed!"
Thanks, Note: Essences are used often and quite successfully with animals and using kinesiology or a pendulum works so well. Animals usually respond quite quickly with essence therapy. As animals are greatly influenced by the people in their lives, it is interesting to see that when we use essences our pets also benefit. Our feeling and attitudes have impact on those around us so use the essences along with your pet. Of course, determine the appropriate essence for your own use and don't assume it is the same one that the animal is taking. As people are looking more and more for alternatives, even such mainstream companies as PetSmart are recommending essences for animals. See: www.petsmart.com/articles/article_6912.shtml. We love to hear from you. If you have a story you would like us to hear about, or know of a natural/alternative-health related article, book or technique you would recommend to others, drop us a note at: newsletter@clearpathessences.com. 6.
